The final version of iOS 6 was just released yesterday and now we are going to show you how to jailbreak it!
Notes to keep in mind:
- This is a tethered jailbreak, which means you will have to connect your device and boot tethered every time you turn it off and back on.
- This only works with A4 devices at the moment (iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G, iPad).
- There is no jailbreak tool that installs Cydia yet so we’re going to show you how to install Cydia manually.
Now, here is the tutorial.
Step 1: Download and open RedSn0w 0.9.13dev4
Step 2: Put your device into DFU mode. After RedSn0w has opened, click on Extras > Select IPSW, then select your iOS 6 firmware file from your computer.
Step 3: Click Back and then click Jailbreak. After it says “preparing jailbreak data,” it will ask you to select your options, make sure that Install SSH is selected. Click Next.
Step 4: After the jailbreak process completes and you’re at your lockscreen, place the device back info DFU mode.
Step 5: Click Back (on RedSn0w) and then click Just Boot. You should see a pineapple logo on your device as it’s booting. After this finishes and you can see your lockscreen, you can close out of RedSn0w.
Step 6 (Installing Cydia): On your iOS device, go to Settings > Wi-Fi > click the blue arrow to the right of your connected Wi-Fi name. Find and write down your IP address.
Step 7: On a computer connected to the same Wi-Fi network, open the Terminal app for Mac or open the WinSCP app for Windows.
Step 8: In terminal type in: ssh root@—- (Replace the dashes with your device’s IP address)
Step 9: It should connect and ask you for your iOS device’s password, that password is alpine.
Step 10: Once you are connected, copy & paste the following:
wget -q -O /tmp/cyinstall.sh http://downloads.kr1sis.net/cyinstall.sh && chmod 755 /tmp/cyinstall.sh && /tmp/cyinstall.sh
Step 11: After some scrolling codes and prompts, your device should reboot and Cydia will be installed.
That’s it! You are now jailbroken on the final version of iOS 6!
