Review: Spigen SGP Neo Hybrid EX Slim for iPhone 5
Today we will be looking at the Spigen SGP Neo Hybrid EX Slim bumper case for the iPhone 5. Spigen offers many different cases on their website but this is definitely one of the best looking cases and one that caught my eye while browsing the website. The case I received came in the color “Dante Red” but they also offer the Neo Hybrid EX Slim case in the hot pink, reventon yellow and soul black colorways. After purchasing the case, you will open the packaging to find a variety of goodies packed inside; you will find the polycarbonate frame, silicone bumper, Steinheil Ultra Crystal screen protector, Steinheil back panel protection film, a microfiber cloth and home button stickers. Everything is fairly easy to install but the only part that I had a lot of trouble with was the back film panel. Since it is broken into three sperate pieces (one large piece for the aluminum backplate, a piece for the glass on top and another piece for the glass on the bottom), it makes it difficult to get a bubble-free installation.
So far, after a full week of daily use with the case, I have not had any issues but there have been some issues pointed out to us. One viewer who has the case said that the bumper will not stay on the phone when removing it from their pocket. I have not had this issue with this case but that doesn’t mean that it hasn’t been apparent to me, meaning that I have felt it get loose at times like it was about to slide off.
The case feels great in the hand and it’s almost like nothing is there because of how lightweight it is. The power and volume buttons are easy to press and provide that great “click” feel and sound. Since it is a bumper case, the front and back of the phone are fully exposed. With that being said, you will be able to sit it down on your desk or wherever you’re sitting without having to worry about the back plate of the phone touching, since the outer part of the case (the “bumper”) keeps it raised up. Now, if you are looking for a full-on protective case that will protect you from falls, look elsewhere.
The case retails for $31.99 and can be purchased on SGP’s website or on Amazon.
