Today, Apple released a new 3.7.2 firmware update for the AirPods. This update comes after version 3.5.1 (the previous latest version), and will fix bugs and improve overall performance of the truly wireless earbuds.
Previously, AirPods updates would occur automatically and you would never even know they were updated unless you kept checking the version number in Settings.
With version 3.7.2, you will have to connect the AirPods to your iPhone (flip the top of the case open) and possibly have to plug the AirPods case into your computer or a wall charger.
AirPods owners can update their earbuds by going to Settings > General > About > AirPods.
Of course that section in About will only show up while the AirPods are connected to your iPhone.
We do not have any release notes from Apple yet, so we don’t know exactly what this new 3.7.2 firmware includes but again, it’s likely minor improvements.
If you have AirPods and received the update, let us know if you installed it and if you find anything noteworthy!
