How to Disable iMessage Typing Bubble Notification on iPhone
While most of you already know that you can turn off read receipts in iMessage, many don’t know that you can actually disable the typing indicator ((…)) in iMessage as well. This works on iOS 10 as well.
Now, before we go any further, you do need to be jailbroken for this to work. Unfortunately there is no native setting for this built in to stock iOS. This works on the Yalu and mach_portal jailbreak for iOS 10 – 10.2; you can jailbreak using this guide for iOS 10.2 and this guide for iPhone 7 users on 10.1 – 10.1.1.
So, with one of the tweaks we will be showing below, you will be able to disable iMessage typing indicators and your friends won’t know when you’re typing or when you read their message. Here’s how.
How to Turn Off iMessage Typing Notification on iPhone:
- Launch Cydia
- Go to the Search tab & search for “Incognito Messages” (it’s in the BigBoss repo)
- Tap Install & Respring when prompted
- Go to Settings & enable ‘Hide Typing Indicator‘
Incognito Messages also offers another useful feature called TypeRead, which will only send a read receipt when you start typing. To use this feature, you’ll need to keep the read receipts option enabled in the settings.
So there you have it! That is how you can disable the iMessage typing indicator/notification on any iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch running jailbroken on iOS 10 – 10.2!
