Apple’s upcoming software, iOS 12.1, will include a fix to a controversial problem noticed on the iPhone XS and XS Max. That issue is #BeautyGate, an issue that caused the front-facing camera to apply a smoothing effect to skin when taking selfies.

This issue affected the iPhone XS and iPhone XR on iOS 12.0.1 and below. We are currently on iOS 12.1 beta 5 but the final version is expected to be released to the public next week.
